My6sense Digital Intuition is lifestream love and "a smarter Internet"

While delving into the lifestream ideal, and social media in general (al la Facebook, Twitter et al.) I have found that the fire hose of information that this builds oh so easily needs some built-in controls. Runaway information does no good, brings no ah ha moments nor elation. We all have several orders of magnitude more information coming in than we can possibly digest, and this is increasing year over year at an alarming rate! Facebook has 40,000,000 photos coming in daily! (as of 6 mo ago, wonder what it is now?)

WIth tools like Posterous, which makes posting ubiquitous and simple these posts of photos, videos, blogs etc. get duplicated over and over, compounding the problem! Don't get me wrong, I love Posterous' model and service. We just need "a smarter Internet" to help us out. The Internet is not a living thing that brings me joy, it does not feed me information that I want automatically - I must go and seek it. Once I find sources online that provide information for my ever expanding "need to know", I latch on and make that part of my life (however large or small) This is what builds my lifestream. And I kept adding to this stream until I could not possibly digest it all.

There are two basic coping mechanisms that we can employ to deal with the fire-hose that we create. One is to ignore most all of it except the items that pass by when we are actually paying attention. The other is to start the process of trimming the fat, unfriending, unfollowing, etc. until we can digest the stream again, which makes the stream useful again. But, there has to be a better way... We don't want to miss anything, we want all cream-of-the-crop stuff, right?

Enter My6sense and Digital Intuition.

My6sense provides the cream-of-the-crop stuff that I want. It does this by employing their Digital Intuition to rank all the stream items (RSS Feeds, Social Media site News Feeds, etc.) based on actual usage. As you use the application by simply reading the items that interest you, My6sense is building it’s Digital Intuition of your viewing preferences. It takes only a few days to see significant differences between the Top Messages ranked by relevance vs. time. This relevance ranking makes lifestream love! I can now include everything, not miss some obscure entry that would be truly important to me, and have it all ranked the way I would do it, if I had 72 hours a day to manage this stuff myself!

I have been using My6sense for months now and it is by far my preferred way to consume information. Of the Top Messages I find myself drawn to about 8 out of 10 on average. This is compared to about 1 in 25 before My6sense. The other striking thing is that as the relevance of items increased for me, I added more feeds. I have 2-3 times the number of feeds coming in now, still with the 8 out of 10 draw. Holy cow, this thing works!
